To furnish pertinent and complete answers to all questions concerning these directives, including those concerning current usage in the folkloric, popular, or classical repertory.

To achieve results of the highest possible musical standards, even at the beginning when the means are still quite limited. To meet the exigencies of rhythm, harmony, and melodic lines (especially in the soprano voice).
