Chord Symbols
Motrix Positions
Before attacking the exercises, it might be wise to consider
how we will dispose tetrads and triads,
in other words, where do we include aMOTRIXin the chord symbol,
and where do we leave it out, there being a substitution in that spot.
At all levels,MOTRIXs will, in principle, be placed on the Off-beat of each cell.
In 2-cell Chord Patterns (with 2 Identification Numbers),
atLevel 0,MOTRIXs are placed on Chord Symbols 1 and 3, but
atLevel +1,MOTRIXs are placed on Chord Symbols 2 and 3.
Example - the answer for "34in C".
could be C6 / G G7 // C (atLevel 0) or C \ G7 G7 / C (atLevel +1).
In 4-cell Chord Patterns (with 4 Identification Numbers),
atLevel 0,MOTRIXs are placed on Chord Symbols 1, 3, 5, and 7,
theMOTRIXat Chord Symbol 1 (possibly Chord Symbols 5, or even 3)
would be left out when we remain on the same chord,
atLevel +1,MOTRIXs are placed on Chord Symbols 2, 3, 6, and 7, but
atLevel +2,MOTRIXs are placed on Chords Symbols 4, 5, 6, and 7.
Find the Chord Symbols for the following Chord Patterns in the given key,
there will be 2 Chord Symbols for each Chord Pattern Number,
one for the Off-beat and one for the Beat of eachcell.

Keyboard Harmony
For each of the preceding 6 exercises,
using Voice-leading C,
performing -
the Fundamental Bass wth the left hand and
the 4 orbit-lines, in closed disposition, with the right hand
(in the center of the Keyboard, around "Middle C"),
1. play each Chord Symbol only once, as a , then, keeping the same tempo,
2. play each Chord Symbol twice (as ), then, always in the same tempo,
3. play only the left hand on the first and only the right hand on the second , then,
4. play each Chord Symbol 4 times (as ), then,
5. play only left hand, right hand, left hand, right hand (on each ).
A rudimentary introduction to marching "Oom-cha" accompaniment (in steps
3 and 5),
but playing both hands together (in steps 1, 2, and 4) can also be
very useful.
NOTE - Chord Symbol Exercises 3 and 6 (with the74Chord Pattern),
will end lower than they started (one-and-a-half diatonic steps to be precise),
on account of the 3 consecutive flattening progressions in the74Chord Pattern.
Remember to start the right hand high enough so as not to end too low.
The other exercises should end in the same disposition as they started.
