Evaluation / Analysis / Showcase

In the showcase, free of charge, you will find 3 easy songs which everyone knows, winter / Christmas "chestnuts". There is very little to criticize in the first, but there are more and more difficulties as we move along.

InSanta Claus Is Comin' To Town, you will discover what a "misplacedbridge" is, a very common high-level problem of Rhythm. You will also see how something as simple (and seemingly childish) asFootsiescan be really enlightening and helpful.

InJoy To The World, not only do we not know who wrote the music of this Christmas song, but we are also totally ignorant of who devised the harmonies which should "accompany" it, we would prefer to say harmonies from which the song comes, and the surgery required here is truly major.

InWinter Wonderland, there are suggested changes of all kinds, and, one way or another, the problems are all of a Rhythmical nature, whether it be a chord arriving too soon, a change of chord (Tenant) to accommodate "rebounds" in the melody, or a transposition to accommodate the position of a sequence of chords. This one is really worthwhile, especially if you feel adventurous.
