The simplest thing to do first to thisPerformance canonis evidently to fix anendto it,
with a longer note-value in all the voices,
and elimination ofOrbit 3, by placingOrbit 0in its place,
leaving a consonantReal Triad
which will automatically be on a Beat and determine the rhythmic structure of
the whole canon.
The end is clearly identified by the absence of aMOTRIXon the last chord,
asubstitutionofOrbit 3byOrbit 0, abbreviated0(3), the note G in the Tenor Voice.
It is now rhythmically evident that we have 4cellsof the TONIC/DOMINANT progression
which arenumbered
M3333, evidently anantecedent.
This canon is called "Bell 1"
because it should immediately be recognized as the Bridge ofTwinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.
NOTE that all the examples on this site are generated material and not taken from
the classical repertoire.
Occasionally, a generated example will be identical with a well-known passage,
from the classical, folkloric or popular repertoire,
and it will be identified as a Bell which should ring in the ears of an
attentive visitor.
