Let's start by defining and explaining the elements of our title (Analysis).

Analysis

We will gradually discover the process ofAnalysis
and see how it applies to the three components of Melody.
In Melo-rhythm , we will observe -
     1. theFootsiesat all levels, especially atLevel 0,
and, possibly, the placing of the appropriate Bar-lines (dashed, single, double, ...)
     2. the length and nature of the Melo-rhythmicEntities,
including theLanger Hingein the middle of each Entity, and
     3. theSymmetrieswhich develop around the Langer Hinge.
In Melo-harmony , we will observe -
     1. the over-all Form of the Melo-harmony - (A, AA', AABA, ABA, ...),
     2. the length and nature of theMelo-harmonic Entities(Chord Patterns),
including theLanger Hingein the middle of each Entity, and
     3. theSymmetrieswhich develop around the Langer Hinge.
In Melo-lines , we will observe -
     1. the over-all Form of the Melody (lines),
not necessarily the same as the Melo-harmonic Form,
     2. the length and nature of theMelo-line Entities,
including theLanger Hingein the middle of each Entity, and
     3. theSymmetrieswhich develop around the Langer Hinge.

Critical

As in figure skating competitions, we have two forms of Evaluation -
     1. TheTechnical Evaluationof the 3 Melodic Components (Rhythm, Harmony, and Lines)
which consists not only in spotting deviations in the structure of the piece,
but also presenting suggestions for improvement.
          These "suggestions", "changes", "revisions", must
be based on sound theoretical criteria and judgement,
sound appreciably better than the original version, and
be interpreted as what the piece could have been,
rather than what it should be,
experience of the past serving the future.
     2. TheArtistic Evaluationin the 3 Melodic Components (Rhythm, Harmony, and Lines)
which consists in spotting elements of special interest
               such as innovations, compositional virtuosity,
and other forms of successful and valid creativity.

Examples of analysis (concerning bars and bar-lines) are already present on the site
and can be found inThe Unknown Container.
This process of Analysis passes judgement
not only of the works involved, the first Quality Control,
but also, if not mostly, on the process itself,
on how efficiently and how fairly it operates,
the second Quality Control, for which you are the only judge.
