Traditionally, the term Music has often been used to represent most things related to Music. But scores are not music as they are notations that only produce music when performed (or a performance re-played). Similarily, composing and improvising (not music) are arts of organizing sound and/or motion in time.

Music is a natural and intuitive phenomenon operating in the 3 Worlds of Time, Pitch, Energy (ie. "playing field"), and under the 3 distinct and interrelated organization structures of Rhythm, Harmony, and Melody (ie. "rules of the game"). The organization structures are themselves governed by the 4 basic principles of Regularity, Simplicity, Symmetry, and Hierarchy.

With this definition of Music, we include a page formerly called "2 Faces".

The MusicNovatory Welcome page is probably the first page to visit while the LockedGuided Tours are highly recommended, especially to newcomers, as they offer different looks, views, or tracks into this encyclopedic reference document.

Check the page titles as they are precise and constant indicators of the current page location as well as links to every parent chapter or volume level.

The sitemap is always available.
