Medium Promenades
Rhythm
These medium promenades have a 9-note grouping, with two ternary levels (in 9/8),
which might be a little more difficult for beginners
than the completely binary 8-note grouping of the short promenades.
Harmony
However, they are simpler as far as the harmonies, and the fingerings, are concerned,
being both symmetrical and diatonic, minor on the way up and major on the way down.
It might be preferable to start with these,
even if they are slightly more complex rhythmically.
Medium Promenade 1
As usual, we start with both hands alternating, first ascending, then descending,
in the key of F# (like the first and second steps)
to be centered around middle D.
The fingerings are quite simple -
RH - c23 a1d23 432 a1,
LH - d432 a1, c23 a1d234
and perfectly symmetrical, alternating from one hand to the other.
Medium Promenade 2
This is where the chords come in, very much as they did in the short promenades :
a TONIC chord of F# (to be played only on the repeat) in the RH,
followed by a DOMINANT chord of G#m and a TONIC chord of D#m,
in the relative Diatonic Minor mode, in the LH,
then a DOMINANT chord of C# leading back to the TONIC chord of F#,
in the original Diatonic Major mode, in the RH.
Same fingerings for the scale as in Medium Promenade 1.
The chords are fingered a1d2 and b1d2c4,
in each hand.
Vocentro Staff
The first noteTacorresponds to F#.
Medium Promenade 3
Now the scale is played in octaves by one player,
while the chords are played by another.
Scale fingerings :
thumbs (1) always at the same time in row a,
fingers of both hands in row d (for 3 fingers), then in row c (for 2 fingers),
and back in row d.
Chord fingerings :
RH - b1d2c4, a1d3c5, a1d2d4, a1d2c5, (b1d2c4)
LH - a1d2d4, a1d2c5, b1d2c4, a1d3c5, (a1d2d4).
A score of 2 Vocentro Staves
The octaves of the first staff are numbered 1, 2, 3,
and the octaves of the second staff are numbered 2, 3,
the same as the 2 top octaves of the scales.
The first noteTacorresponds to C.
