History
The song Twinkle, Twinkle lent itself to several Counter Melodies,
of which this seemed the most successful,
both for the music and for the words,
placed on a larger level, Level +1, possibly Level +2.
A father and his child both refer to the same scene,
but in a completely different, complementary manner.

Comparison Of The Two Melodies

Twinkle, Twinkle - - - Whispers Of The Night

General
Form = ABA
Level 0 for each A and B = 0 + 2 - - - Level +1 for each A and B = 0 + 4
2/4 Bar-lines placed at its Level 0 - - - 2/4 Bar-lines placed at its Level -1
1 bar per cell - - - 2 bars per cell
4 bars (4 cells) in each A and B - - - 4 bars (2 cells) in each A and B
12 bars in all with the D.C.

2 Levels
As in Example 3, 2 simultaneous levels merit an explanation.
Melody 1 starts first, on a pick-up Beat 2 at its Level 0,
while Melody 2 starts later. on Beat 1 of the next (full) bar (Bar 1) at its Level -1.
This is what allows them to cadence together at the end of each A and of each B.

MeloHarmony
The two melodies evidently have the same harmonies, chords, "changes"
M5664 3333 5664
F F Bb6 F Bb6 F/C C7 F, F6 C7 F6 C F6 C7 F6 C, F F Bb6 F Bb6 F/C C7 F

2 Levels Again
Some true, proprietor chords of Melody 1 become tenant chords of Melody 2,
including all the COUNTER-DOMINANT Bb6 chords,
producing, at its larger level, the pattern M54 33 54.

MeloRhythm
In the As, two Entities for Melody 1 - - - In the first A, one Entity for Melody 2.
K1F= K1M twice - - - K2F= K1M once
In the B, two Entities in Melody 1 - - - The B joins the next A in Melody 2.
K1F= K1M twice - - - K2F= K1F- once
(for code).

The MeloRhythm of these two melodies is very different and complementary,
with repeated, short, identical entities in Melody 1
but with a long entity A and an extra long entity BA in Melody 2.
In the complete ABA, there are 6 entities in Melody 1 but only 2 entities in Melody 2.

MeloLines
The MeloLines here are essentially parallel thirds
C, Bb, A, G with A, G, F, E, in Bars 2-3 (10-11)
G, C, Bb, A with Bb, A, G, F, in Bars 6-7.
Only in Bars 1-2 (9-10) do we find the 2-1 (D-C), 3-2 (G-A) combination, and
only in Bar 5 do we find the 3-2 (Bb-A), 2-1 (E-F) combination.
(for code),

Only 2 orbits have been chosen for each bar,
and whatever precedes Orbit 2 is considered Orbit 3.
The same number and size of Entities as in the MeloRhythm,
         with 6 entities in Melody 1 (2-1, 1-1, 2-1, 2-1, 2-1, 1-1)
and only 2 entities in Melody 2 (2-1, 2-1) to "close" at the end of each A (Bars 4 and 12).

Analysis Of Melody 2

General
Everything satisfactory in its ABA form.

Melo-rhythm
Everything satisfactory in its K2F= K1M K2F= K1F- K2F= K1M shape.

Melo-harmony
Everything satisfactory in its M54 33 54 (F / F C7 / F, F6 C7 F6 C, F / F C7 / F) chord pattern.

Melo-lines
Everything satisfactory in its Langer Hinge at the end of the B,
which also affects the Melo-harmony and the Melo-rhythm.

General Review of Entities
All the entities are the same length,
2 entities in the Melo-rhythm, in the Melo-lines, and in the Melo-harmony.

The Rainbow Shift
This shift of levels was first noticed in Over The Rainbow.
         The symmetry existing between
the Beat of Cell 1 (Bar 2) and the Off-Beat of Cell 2 (Bar 3)
tends to unify them into the Off-Beat of a larger level,
                                       producing a lofty, grandiose feeling.
The same applies to Bars 10 and 11 and to Bars 6 and 7.
